Worship Life in September

Choose life…  You cannot serve God and wealth…  There was a rich man…  The recurring theme in the September readings is how one approaches wealth as a disciple of Christ.  Throughout the readings, it is apparent hard choices are in order.  There is an order to the choices, God first, wealth second.  This seems to be the path to true hope and, as St. Paul puts it, the life that really is life.  May the rich life of Christ be yours this month and always.0`````````````````````` 5 1 0 285 282 1 False 0 0 0 0 -1 304800 243 True 128 77 255 3175 3175 70 True True True True True 278 134217728 8 Empty Empty 16777215 16777215 16777215 16711680 1ack ite 22860000 22860000 (`@````````` 266 263 5 110185200 110185200

Sunday, September 5 (Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost) - Choose Life

Readings:  Deuteronomy 30:15-20;  Psalm 1; Philemon 1:1-21; Luke 15:25-33
It was a pivotal point in the unfolding story of God’s people.  How pivotal?  The journey ahead offered the choice between life and death, blessing and curse.  God said, “choose life.”  Your choice?

Sunday, September 12 (Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost) - Rally Day

Readings:  Exodus 32:7-14; Psalm 51:1-10; 1 Timothy 1:12-17; Luke 15:1-10

Moses had gone up the mountain to speak with the God who can’t be seen.  Meanwhile, the people wanted a god they could see, so they made a golden calf.  Who do you worship?  What do you dedicate your life to?

Sunday, September 19 (Seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost) - First Things First

Readings:  Amos 8:4–7; Timothy 2:1–7; Luke 16:1–13

Jesus cautions us to be careful with choices concerning wealth.  God comes first.

Sunday, September 26 (Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost)  - The Life That Really is Life

Readings:  Amos 6:1a, 4–7; 1 Timothy 6:6–19; Luke 16:19–31

If the Buddy Miller song, “I Worry too Much” describes your life, then consider Paul’s call to seek your hope in “God who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.”
